OVER 125 YEARS OF QUALITY AND SERVICE

Established in 1892 by Edward Gornell, Gornell Brush has long been a respected company in the westside of Chicago, Illinois. The company quickly established itself as a brush engineering firm and manufacturer, taking pride in its ability to turn a customer’s simple drawing into a high-quality product. As the company’s turn-of-the-century advertisements read, “Send us a diagram or sketch of the brush desired. We can duplicate or modify any style brush from a sample, blue print or sketch.”

Raymond Gornell

Brought into the business at a young age by his father, Edward, Raymond Gornell was a grammar school student when he began delivering packages for the family business. As he grew, he nurtured the business and eventually became president and owner. The business quickly grew to be a well-respected company with a reputation as a custom designer and manufacturer of brushes.

Mr. Gornell helped turn Gornell Brush into one of the oldest and most successful brush companies in the United States with exports worldwide. His employees, some having been with the company for more than 30 years, described Ray as “loyal, kind…a gentle man.” At the helm for more than 30 years, Mr. Gornell passed away on November 17, 1998 at the age of 83.

The Company Today

Today, Gornell Brush is part of the Schaefer Brush family of products serving the industrial and maintenance industries with the highest quality, largest range of brushes and cleaning tools available.  The company is large enough to handle any size job, while maintaining the best personal service and quality. A formula that has earned us the reputation as one of the most respected companies in the industry.
